Tournament Volunteers Perk Up Local Parks

Three parks in Pasadena are about to get a good sprucing-up, courtesy of Tournament volunteer members and  Miracle-Gro, the Tournament’s Official Rose and Flower Care Company. This Saturday, May 4, shovels will hit the dirt at Brenner Park, Hamilton Park and Robinson Park and the result will be new plants and trees, along with Miracle-Gro products to help them thrive. The effort, dubbed “White Suits Green Thumbs,” is a community service effort the Tournament devised to engage its members in a way that would benefit the city as well as its residents and visitors alike. Our friends at Miracle-Gro are happy to join in the effort, providing a whopping 19,500 square feet of mulch and other products to help get the soil and new additions – everything from Kangaroo paw and Sticky Monkey Flower to Woolly Blue Curls and Snow-in-summer – off to a healthy start. The Tournament and Miracle-Gro have also made a combined monetary contribution of $37,000 toward the improvement of these parks.

By the way, Miracle-Gro is also the Presenting Sponsor of Post Parade: A Showcase of Floats, where you’ll be able to see all of the parade’s floral-decorated masterpieces on January 1 and 2.

This beautification project is just one component of the Tournament’s special activities as we approach our landmark anniversaries in 2014. Tournament Times will keep you up to date on other celebratory plans as the year marches on.

Central Park will be undergoing an even bigger transformation. Stay tuned for more information when that project kicks off later in the year – the final results will be unveiled in October!
